About

Dan Sadin_Sep 2018_COLOR_© Rachael Wright-16.jpg

LA-based rocker, Dan Sadin, is a guitar player first, and songwriter always, who is voicing the quiet conversations that are happening in dark bar rooms, bedrooms, therapy sessions and our most intimate thoughts, bringing these ideas out of secrecy and into the light, inviting all of us to be a little more vulnerable.

Sadin has established a ten year career playing, writing, producing and performing with artists like FRENSHIP, Holychild, MØ, Jessie Ware and Sabrina Claudio at venues and festivals around the world. In the summer of 2018, he released his debut, eponymous EP, receiving attention from notable outlets such as All Things Go, Grimy Goods, We Found New Music and Buzzbands LA.

After a 15-date North American tour opening for Frenship and Yoke Lore earlier that spring, Dan Sadin became a fixture of the Los Angeles music scene with sold out shows at the Lodge Room and Madame Siam, and playing to packed houses at the Moroccan Lounge, KCRW’s Desert Nights, Hotel Café, and many other notable venues.

Sadin’s style draws on a nostalgic reverence for heroes who have come before like Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith, while writing a new story and sound that inspires hope that our generation of artists can shift the current narrative from disconnection to connection. Sadin’s songs don’t claim to know the answers but rather reveal the process of growth that it has taken for him to find his own voice

Working on new music slotted for release in the Fall of 2019, Dan Sadin intimately shares the experience of an internal battle so many of us are fighting: the choice to conform and be accepted or stand out and risk rejection. In choosing the latter, Dan delivers the raw, familiar, heartache we have all felt when we take that risk to speak our truth. It’s impossible to hear these songs and not feel something.

 Press

“[Sadin offers] comfort with a warm portrayal of masculine vulnerability…pluck[ing] soft strings bearing the weight of a heart breaking in real time” – All Things Go Premeire of “Here Comes The Heartbreak

“A self-titled rocker with bold emotion” - Buzzbands.La Ears Wide Open

“Dan Sadin is a talented guitarist ready to put his name on his own work after years of recording and touring with other acts” - Grimy Goods

“His sideswept mop complements his easygoing attitude, which only bolstered the inherent coolness of his set” - Grimy Goods Show Review

“Deep down I think I’ve been conditioned to believe that I have to be strong all of the time, and that men can’t be seen as both sensitive and strong in the same context. I think this also speaks to a larger piece missing from today’s social culture: that true vulnerability and emotional awareness is lacking from our masculine vocabulary.” - At The Barricade Band Stories

The Way That It Hurts

It’s a complicated feeling under a hard touch, don’t turn away. You’re always running at the first sign of warning, God damn, it’s just a phase. Won’t believe it, till I change your mind...It ain’t easy, the way that it hurts. Pulls you closer, too close to see...It ain’t easy, the way that it hurts. No it ain’t easy. It’s just a feeling. Mama, be easy, and tell me what you want, what you want from me. There’s a shadow where your heart once kept me, now it’s cold love, don’t turn away. There’s something right about the way I want you, don’t you know, it’s not a phase. I say the way, the way that it hurts...I say the way, the way that it hurts...I break the way, I break the way...I break the way, the way that it hurts. Say what you want...Say what you want. Take what you want...Won’t you tell me what you want, what you want from me? Say what you want, what you want from me. C’mon take what you want what you want from me. Mama, tell me what you want, tell me what you want. Won’t you tell me what you want what you want from me. No it ain’t easy...It’s just a feeling. Mama, be easy, and tell me what you want, what you want from me.

Here Comes The Heartbreak

Oh no, oh no here comes the heartbreak, I knew it was coming. I knew it was coming. Oh no, oh no here come the tears I feared, I knew they were coming. I knew they were coming. I thought I had gotten away...Here comes the heartbreak. Oh no, oh no here comes your little blue star, I knew it was coming. I could see it coming. Oh no, oh no I didn’t mark it up but it doesn’t mean I lost your love. Oh it’s still flowing. I thought I had gotten away, thought I had nothing to say. I guess it’s just a little to late, here comes the heartbreak. I guess it’s just a little to late, here comes the heartbreak...Here comes the heartbreak, here comes the heartbreak...Oh no, oh no here come the facts to face, I know I have to take them. But I couldn’t see ‘em coming. I thought I could save the pain, thought I could get away. No matter what I have to say, here comes the heartbreak. I guess it’s just a little too late, here comes the heartbreak...Here comes the heartbreak, here comes the heartbreak.

Edge of the Dark

Moonlight, you had the shivers. You woke me up and then asked to hold you tight. Our bodies touch. And for a moment, it seemed like everything was gonna be alright. I’m calling up God as my witness, I’m gonna fix whatever keeps you up at night. I won’t quit, no they can’t win this. I’m gonna help you, protect you from the night. Hold ya at the edge of the dark. Oh I’ll hold ya at the edge of the dark. Yeah, I’ll hold ya at the edge of the dark. No we won’t back down. Said we won’t back down. Dreams can cut. I pull you closer, whisper we can put away the years that left you scarred. Life is sharp, but I’ll be with ya. Ain’t no way I’ll let them take the beauty from your heart. Hold ya at the edge of the dark. Oh I’ll hold ya at the edge of the dark. Yeah, I’ll hold ya at the edge of the dark. No we won’t back down. Said we won’t back down. Dreams can come, dreams can go, you can have ‘em how you want ‘em if you wanna let ‘em go. Dreams can come, dreams can go, you can have ‘em anyway you want ‘em if you let ‘em go. Hold ya at the edge of the dark. Oh I’ll hold ya at the edge of the dark. Yeah, I’ll hold ya at the edge of the dark. No we won’t back down. Said we won’t back down.

Lost on Nothing

Fell out of place, into the deep. I’m a face with a name, but you won’t see it. I stand in the shadow of your light, cold stare like I’m on the other side. Slideshow of a stranger. Home and the trace of what I’m leaving. I won’t be the tiger in your cage. I’m tongue tied but your silent anyway. Oh, we’re all looking for something with our eyes on the ground. We got lost on nothing. Don’t turn your back on it now. Can’t fight the changes...If we don’t figure it out, we’ll get lost on nothing. Time has a way, of singing sweetly. Bury the fear, so you don’t see it. Wake up in the middle of the night, cold sweat there’s nowhere you can hide. Oh, we’re all looking for something with our eyes on the ground. We got lost on nothing. Don’t turn your back on it now. Can’t fight the changes. If we don’t figure it out, we’ll get lost on nothing. We’ll get lost on nothing, we’ll get lost on nothing, we’ll get lost on nothing...We got lost on nothing. Like a thief in the night. We got lost on nothing. Like a thief in the night. We got lost, we got lost, we got lost...Lost on nothing. We got lost, we got lost, we got lost...Lost on nothing
